. it will be held at 1:00 this afternoon. ktvu has learned a former san francisco lab technician will plead guilty to a drug charge. that plea is expected in federal court this morning. the attorney for debra madden says a plea deal has been reached and madden will plead guilty to a simple charge of possession. madden was accused of stealing cocaine from a police station. >>> the one way loop into downtown is being put into place at 8:00 tonight. foothill boulevard will become a oneway street starting where jackson street and mission boulevard meet. from the foothill the loop will turn left on to a street and left on mission back toward jackson. the loop is part of the $100 million route 238 corridor repaving project. >>> time is 4:35. turning out to be a pretty busy morning on interstate 580. how does it look? >> we do have a problem, brian, and pam. we have a big rig fire. i want to put it on the map for you. eastbound 580 at airway three lanes are blocked with this truck fire. westbound 580 is the commute direction but obviously this is going to have an effect even though it is nice and early.

're following breaking news from san francisco. that officer involved shooting tied to a stolen taxi cab. brian flores is there in fort mason. you just got new video, brian. >> reporter: good morning, dave. we're in the fort mason area. as you can see behind me still a very active scene. it's been that way for at least 30 minutes. there are cop cars in this area. this is the area where we believe the stolen cab is located. we still haven't seen it yet. this is the last location of where the stolen cab is and what we believe were the suspect was arrested. here's details of what we know this morning. from what we understand, the suspect vandalized a taxi cab. somewhere in the area of jackson and buchanon. the driver of that taxi cab got out and confronted the suspect. when he did so the suspect entered the taxi cab and stole and drove away with it. officers were able to locate that taxi cab in a patrol car around jackson and spruce but that taxi cab actually rammed into the patrol car and from what we understand there are shots fired in the area of ja

people were injured over night in a shooting in san francisco's western edition neighborhood. it happened around 12:30 this morning on fell and pierce streets just a block from alamo square. it appears the occupants of one car fired on another vehicle. both have nonlife threatening injuries >>> drug sniffing dogs will be patrolling middle and high schools. they have dogs that can sniff out illegal and prescription drugs as well as alcohol on campus. budget cuts forced schools to stop using the dogs in 2007 but the dublin school board voted to bring them back last year. >>> san jose police are looking for two men that are suspected of robbing people leaving a light rail station. janine de la vega is at station with a look at the video police are hoping will lead them to the suspects. >> reporter: the second incident in the last couple of months where victims have been followed off of a light rail station and robbed in neighborhood. the first one happened on ray street but the latest involved a light rail station and happened in the evening

are searching for the driver who plowed into a home in san francisco's bayview district, then took off. it happened around 4:00 it morning. tara moriarty is joinging us with reaction from the home in the woman who thought there had been an earthquake. >> reporter: good morning. they thought it was an earthquake. the mother said the daughter rushed into her bedroom and said i think it's the big one and then they looked outside and saw the car smashed into their house where the blue tarp is. witnesses say the driver slammed into the house and then the suspect ran away. there appears to be about $10,000 worth of damage to the house and many items inside the garage were ruined, including a dryer. witnesses could not tell if the person was a man or a woman. they appeared to be latino or pacific islander. the impact of the crash was enough to wake up everyone inside the home. luckily, no one was hurt. >> came outside, nobody was hurt. all of the stones and rock and stuff is on the ground. very surprising. you don't really see too many disasters like this. >> reporter: police are running the

problems driving through. it's nice and early for your commute. this is a look at san francisco northbound 101 traffic is really light. let's go back to the desk. >>> we are following developing news in san francisco where two firefighters were injured fighting an apartment building fire. huge fire. it started just before 1:00 this morning in the bay view district. tara moriarty is there on the scene with more on why this fire was so hard to control. tara. >> reporter: we're here at mckin anyone and third street. part of this street is blocked off here. it took crews more than two hours to contain this fire. it got going pretty well because there was an exposed gas line and it took pg&e an hour and 15 minutes to turn it off. about two dozen people were able to escape their homes. they evacuated two buildings. flames broke out just before 1:00 this morning and everyone got out safely but it was a close call. residents say they heard alarms going off and people pounding on their door. >> crackling, sparks, little explosions from the wood or whatever and different stuff that is flammable. and
